Moschato Estate is in the Livathos region at the south of Kefalonia. It is the birthplace of the great benefactors of Kefalonia. It is blessed with beautiful beaches, such as Ai xelis, Avythos, Ammes, Agios Thomas, Trapezaki, Lourdas and others.
The area has a wealth of historical monuments to visit including the vaulted Mycenaean tombs at Mazarakata and the impressive Saint Georges Castle that used to be the capital of the island. Others include, the picturesque and peaceful monasteries of Agios Andreas in Peratata and also the Monastery of Sission which is said to have been founded by Saint Francis of Asizis. The green villages of Livathos were built by people of the sea which was the main occupation of the inhabitants. The island of Zeus is located only half a mile from the shore.
